It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Each year, DC transforms into a magical winter wonderland courtesy of the Downtown Holiday Market, which opens on Black Friday and runs through Dec. 23. Now in its 11th year, the market features more than 150 exhibitors and artisans who rotate often, making it worth your while for multiple trips. Locally minded folks will be happy to know more than a third of the vendors are Washington, DC-based photographers, potters, designers, crafters and confectioners. The market is open from noon to 8 p.m. daily and is centered at 8th and F streets NW, just outside of the National Portrait Gallery building .

When it comes to what should go on your DC bucket list, here’s why we’d put visiting the Downtown Holiday Market right up there with seeing the National Christmas Tree.
